This week’s Midweek Modular sees a take on a Roland ADSR and VCA, a route to internal listening and a new standard in stereo filtering from Doepfer.
The most interesting release of the week for me was the Nautilus from Qu-Bit Electronix. While it is essentially a stereo delay module Qu-Bit has worked up an awesome sub-nautical vibe that speaks of sonar dispersal, topographical generations and aquatic feedback networks. Read more about it here.
But let’s not forget the amazing re-release of the Model 10 from Moog. It is an instrument of beauty that very few of us will ever be able to afford, but it would look amazing on your sideboard. Read more about it here.
Although, if you’re interested in something a bit more compact, then the Pony VCO from Befaco packs a lot of wave folding character into a 4HP module. It’s a very musical and evolving oscillator. Read more about it here.
Here are a few more bits and pieces of modular news and coolness that I’m pleased to shine a light on for this week’s Midweek Modular.
The next module in the mining of the Roland SH-02 takes the VCA and envelope section into a single module. The VCA has input and level controls, whereas you get a row of four sliders for the ADSR. AMSynths says that it has all the character and snappiness of the original synthesizer and would, of course, pair brilliantly with the AM8012 filter.
A useful output module from Blood Cells Audio that lets you listen to part of your modular without sending it to the master output. You can audition the Cue inputs against your mix via your headphones and a crossfader. It also has inputs in the rear, so you could route to it from other mixer modules with a similar back end. I’m also loving the little skull.

Doepfer has pulled together a smart-looking stereo filter from the core of the A-121-2 and A-121-3 12dB multimode filter. It has mode morphing from lowpass through bandpass to highpass. You have a single large cutoff knob for stereo control and individual controls for using them separately or in parallel. The stereo cutoff is CV controllable, and you also have the ability to offset the filter spread.

01 Oct · the old ones looked kinda ugly nowadays, I like the new, more modern look. sadly seems like they don't offer wireless, but could be worse, at least they are pretty compact.
